If i was looking for a posi unit to install in my 1987 grand prix what would i be looking for that will fit in , not sure about axle teeth and brands to look for and stay away from? I want to go 3.73

You probably have 26 spline axles. I found an early 3rd gen Trans Am at the junkyard and they also used 26 spline axles. I got the carrier/gears/posi out of it and it bolts right in. I know that it might fail at some point, but it is working for me for now.
I suspect that most people will tell you not to waste your $$$ on aftermarket 26 splines, and move up to something better. Most of the aftermarket stuff will be better that our old factory stuff.
