4 speed question

anyone got a factory stick gbody they switched to a muncie and DID NOT modify the factory floor hole? if so, what shifter and how did you get reverse sorted out? this has stalled all my upgrades!

Here's a great thread on going with a T10 which should work as it & the Muncie mount the shifter in the same way.

I finally have my car driving and can say that the swap was a complete success. I now have a very factory looking Super T10 swap into my 78 4 speed Malibu.
I decided when I swapped out the original 305 that I would also replace the Saginaw 4 speed before I broke it. In its place is a home built nodular iron 2.88 first gear Super T10.
I went to the trouble because I wanted it to look stock which meant stock looking shifter in the stock location and I did not want to loose my original console.
The original 78-81 A body 3 and 4 speeds had a shifter location that was not in the typical...

Member gnvair did a write up of installing a super t10 in his Malibu that you can probably find by searching. He used the original hole in the floor by making some brackets for the shifter and using a couple different shift rods if I remember correctly. I believe he said it wouldn’t be much different if any at all for a muncie. I bought his shifter and brackets and installed a Richmond super t10 in my factory 4 speed Malibu wagon. I’m using the original hole in the floor and the bench seat isn’t in the way either. I might still have some pictures of the shifter if you would be interested so you can see how the reverse lights work but I would search out his thread for some good reading. He’s was a huge help to me.
