I just finished putting in a 2004r in my 83 wagon. I picked up a drum brake blazer rear with a g80 gt4 rear end. Can I swap the gears if I use the axles as well? Are the housing different because of bearing sizes? Trying to find a g80 rear for a 7.5 around here is impossible.
I'm hoping this might work with out spending big bucks. Do you have to replace the crush ring each time you swap gears.
Thanks

Hey. The 7.5, 7.652 and the 7.5/8 all inner change. The difference is in the axle spline, There is 26 spline and 1988 and up 28 spline. The S-10 axles will not work in in your rear end, Must use your axles.

I plan on using those axles. If you plan on burning the tires, the bigger spider gears are a good idea.

Judging by the description pages, the difference seems to be in the lug holes. Early G-Bodies still had American standard lugs and lug nuts. Later models had metric lugs and lug nuts. That might have something to do with it. I bought Moser 28 spline axles for my 7.5" (yet to be installed) but I just bought them through Summit.

Okay that makes sense.
Thanks
