Just curious if anyone has a picture of a 70 Cutlass spoiler on an 86 Cutlass. I know the trunk lid of the a-body has more angle than the g-body but I thought about trimming the a-body spoiler so it sat flat like the 83 H/O spoiler.

Any thoughts? Think it would look good? I also thought about adding the W30 hood along with it. Would it look balanced or out of place?

I have already seen a w 30 hood on a g body..........looked awesome.
there is a site that has w 30 hoods for 81 to 88 cutlass, fiberglass i think. can't find rhe site right now........anyone?

Yeah, I knew usbody has the hoods. I was just curious as to what the 70 spoiler what look like on a car in addition to the W30 hood.

I think it would be a bit of overkill, and probably too wide. Also, the 70-72 Cutlass used a much steeper rear deck slope than the 78-88 Cutlass, so it would not look right. The slope of the pedestals would tilt it in a way that would just look odd.

I didn't think it would look right. I've always wondered but I'm good at coming up with bad ideas.

Thanks Rick, I have a repro g-body spoiler. I was just thinking about trying something differant.

I'm coming to the conclusion that you just CAN NOT improve the looks of our Cutlass'!

Most stuff tends to look tacked on when added to a G Cutlass. There are a few things that look good, but they come mainly from deleting items like the vinyl top, ding strips, emblems, etc. Debatable is the removal of the lower molding used on the Salon, Calais and Brougham models. Some like it, some don't. Modest lowering is always a good idea on these cars as G cars tended to be too high up when stock, and wider wheels and tires also help to make the look of the cars.

These cars were more formal in their style. So, they tend to look better if you play to that theme. For example: Dual exhaust sticking out past the bumper, or hanging low looks like sh*t, but properly tucked and only partially showing works well. Stock hoods look the best, small cowls look OK, but the W-30 style hoods and big cowls clash with the car's feel. The stock H/O stuff works well, but only as a complete package. So, keep it conservative looking, but make it fast!

(Yes, this is all just my opinion, but I tend to think I am right when it comes to aesthetics. )
