Last question...is your starter the offset bolt pattern? And how many shims and what sizes did you use...if you remember

My bolt pattern is straight across, which has represented a problem on both of my past 400's. The blocks were only drilled for a staggered starter so I just drilled and tapped my second hole. I haven't had to use any shims on any of the three blocks I've had this starter bolted to.

I am currently having trouble finding a starter to fit also. 84 Hurst with a 200-4r trans with the big chevy flywheel bolted up to a 383 stroker. Any starter part numbers. Thanks Steve

Lol, I just replied to you're other thread. Are you looking for a stock starter or an aftermarket mini-starter?

I was looking for a stock starter, #3510 did the trick, thank you...but my next problem is the shift linkage. My 200c linkage wont work. How did you fix this problem. I have a stock console shifter.

I'm using a stock shifter and console out of an 86 Camaro. Its not connected to the steering column linkage at all, so I don't have any reverse lights. You could try to find a shifter out of a cutlass with the 200r4, however i'm not quite sure if that will work without modification. The spacing between gears on the shifter between a 700r4 and 2004r may not be exactly the same, i'm not quite sure why i think that, maybe something I read somewhere.

Anybody out there use a stock 2004r cutlass shifter with a 700r4 transmission??
