I've seen the first book, but I wasn't feeling cool with how the book read. It didn't seem very condusive to a step by step walk through for a first time rebuilder. If I could find the real deal GM factory 700r4 rebuild manual I know I can do it but when I have to read out the description of a part when all the parts look the same I have a hard time. A picture is worth a 1,000 words, or a 1,000$ in this case.

I saw the second one on eBay but I've been looking in book stores to be able to see what I'm buying before I spend the $.

The more I look the more I understand, but I know the smallest thing out of place and I've wasted my time and $.

dont try and rebuild a transmission with a book, get a video from boxwrench.com. thats what i used to do my 200-4r. i did watch it like 6-7 times before i even started taking it apart but it helps ALOT! watching some one do it and reading how to do it are two WAYY different things. heres the link:

I have to concur, my Haynes manual had some nice pictures...but seeing it in motion is definitely better

Thanks for the link! I'm just saving up some money for the kit then I'm going to start tearing into it. However I just talked to a guy who knows a guy that's selling a manual trans with pedals and slave cylinder to do the complete swap for 400... I'll see what happens.
