I have a 700R4 that has a cable drive for the original mechanical speedo. I'll be changing my original guages to electonic AutoMeter guages, including an electronic speedo.

I know that you can get a pulse generator that screws into the original mechanical cable take-off position, but I'd like to make it clean and replace that unit with an electronic sender. How can I do that? What parts do I need? Will I have to take the transmission out?

Thanks in advance,
Andry

might want to check some of the later( -93) 700r4's and see if the housing is the same size... my old '92 caprice w/police package had the electronic pick-up in the housing... HTH

Thanks guys! I appreciate your responses and will try to get an electric sender from a newer 700R4. I'll try the dealer or wrecker.

I think you need one of these and the steel reluctor wheel that goes on the tail shaft, and the harness pig tail to plug into it for the new style sensor . If you can find an older style you can use the speedo gear you have.
