700r4 question

If i can scrape up enough cash to buy a LS1 with trans i could sell you my spare 87 Monte SS CZF code 200-4r that i have. It may need a rebuild though. I got quoted 800.00 for a High performance rebuild along with some upgrades. It shifts kind of hard so it may be a shift kit?.... But in your car with a 383 i would definetely consider a rebuild. I am looking for a decent priced combo and then i will start the swap on my 85, But i have had just as much of a hard time finding something :| OH and by the way my ex was the same.......

My wife would absolutely kill me if I even tried to spend $1400+ on a transmission for the GP. She hates it enough as it is.

You'll find that it will only get better or worse. Hopefully, with some time maybe she will come around. The only reason I met my wife was because I sold her my G-body. So, while she doesn't have any desire to drive them anymore (largely because they are RWD), she has fond memories of it. This is especially true of the 2400+ mile road trip we took in the new '83 Hurst/Olds.

Is there other vehicles that ran a 200r4 that I can snatch?
I'm sure there's a list online somewhere. I found mine in an '89 Caprice. Check full size cars, wagons, performance models (Monte SS, 442, etc.) even some Cadillacs. Be sure that you get one with an appropriate bell housing pattern. Most are dual pattern but I have personally seen a BOP only case. Also, as with any automatic, the newer it is the more factory revisions (improvement updates) it will have. Good luck.

If you are anywhere near Staten Island, I know a guy who has a ton of 200-4r's. He parts out monte's and has a few of his own.
