guys, need advice as to whose headers to use and exhaust. Will be a SBC motor, 4 speed. Using the g-force crossmember. Assume 2.5" will be plenty. Thanks

Read some about the pypes setup. What motor you running? Read side exhaust or straight back? Can't really tell in your pic but what size rims and tires at each corner do you have? Thanks much

My 79 runs Hooker 2451's with Torque Tech pipes. Flowmaster 50 series mufflers. Behind the wheels exit.
Small block 400 engine, turbo 350 transmission, 15 x 8.5 Centerline Convo Pro wheels, 28 x 11.50 Micky Thompson ET Street's.

Excellent!!! I'll call the, this weekend. Do you have the stock crossmember? I need to buy the gforce aftermarket one. Also, do you run their x or H setup, why did you choose what you did? I think I'm getting the Hedman headers for my heater box and air clearance, inside frame tubes, thoughts their since we have the same car. Thx for posting

I installed their system over 10 years ago on this car, still in service today. I used the stock crossmember with a section of 4 inch pipe welded into the notch I needed to cut into the left side for clearance. The Hooker Super comp. headers I used were 2150's (not 2451's stated above) all header tubes run inside the frame. At the time I ordered the exhaust system with the H pipe set up but did not install it.
I chose the Hooker headers due to past experience with their products on many friends projects.
The exhaust pipes were a case of customer service. Torque Tech answered any questions I had professionally and made sure what I ordered would work with my car.
I've since used their systems on other cars.(86 El Camino 2 1/2 Cat back system then change to Header back with cats, 88 Monte Carlo SS Last of their 2 1/2 cat back systems, 74 Monte Carlo 2 1/2 Header back) I was always pleased with the fit and the fact that it was ALL USA made products. When a product works I stay with them.
Checking their webpage today I see they are retiring and closing shop.
I've never used Headman headers so I cannot judge there. My El Camino used Cyclone /Blackjack headers and lasted only 4 years (In New York winters)
Hope this helps!

Bob, just called Ellen and Keith there and ordered their 3" system, behind the wheel exhaust with X pipe setup. Couldn't have been nicer folks and a great price with the dynomax mufflers... Thanks for the tip, learned a lot as well.
