79 Cutlass Calais

I'm becoming more partial to the 78-80 style Cutlasses myself. So much do I just recently bought one! A real low milage beauty with factory 5 speed.

Gotta get some nice Cutlass Rally's on them though. Here's a pic with a wheel set in front just to get an idea of what it'll look like.

Love the colour and no vinyl top.

Rktpwrd, where did you find those Euro-style lights? Are those out of an '87 Cutlass or Monte? Was there much fabrication in getting them to fit? Unique look.

Thanks man. Actually, they are neither. Believe it or not, they’re actually from a Chevrolet Celebrity. Seems like an odd choice I know, but they fit the openings nicely and are still pretty abundant in the wrecking yards.
They required a substantial bit of fabrication, but I’m not your average type to just throw something together and call it good. I documented the entire process start to finish (including modifying the headlight bezels and getting them rechromed) on my build thread.
The process starts here...

Have a look through it and let me know what you think on my thread just so we don’t clutter up the OP’s thread here any more than we already have.

Thanks for the interest!

Thanks Donovan. Nowhere near close to the point of doing the lights on the wagon. Actually, exterior is probably the last thing I'm going to do. The other option I was looking at was LED 4x6 sealed-beams. Right now (subject to change, of course) my plan is:

Interior: Dakota Digital VHX gauge cluster, T-Type 3-spoke steering wheel, rear outboard shoulder belts & child seat anchors, updated radio headunit (period-correct look)
Chassis: Box frame (Hellwig Frame FX), powdercoat
Powertrain: LS3 or LT1 E-Rod Connect & Cruise, Rear Axle w. disc brakes, 3.08 or 3.23 rear end
Suspension: Hotchkis or QA1, Front brake upgrade (Wilwood or Baer), 245+ 17-inch Circle Racing Buick Rallye-style wheels.

Other than that, want to keep it pretty original-looking. Not looking to build a dragstrip demon or autocross hero, but something reliable I can drive on a regular basis and enjoy.
