Hi I have a 1979 cutlass supreme that originally came with a 4.3 v8 gas motor. I've swapped it over to a sbc 350 with a th350 trans. My steering box is starting to leak so I want to replace it with a steering box that has a tighter turn radius. I was just wondering what gear boxes are interchangeable. And what would be my best bet to go with?

F41 steering box with a 4 bolt top cover out of any F41 equipt G-body.
82-88 442/Hurst Olds/Salon/Calais/Monte SS/T-type/GNs come with them but many base models were optioned with F41, check the RPO tag in the trunk to be 100%. '84 on up will have RPO tags.

You mean you want "faster" steering, like the F41 mentioned. But this won't give you a tighter turn radius, it will give you a WIDER turn radius. Fewer turns of the steering wheel lock-to-lock.

Ask me how I know. After I swapped one in, I backed into a shrub I always missed before, and poked out a taillight lens on a fat trimmed branch.

You will like the response, though. And it will leave you just a little more clearance for bigger front tires.

You might also need a different pitman arm. I installed one, but I'm not absolutely certain that it was necessary.
