If you are doing all that why not keep it? its a gamble but you might break even or take a loss. it seems these days nobody wants to come off cash.

Your particular car is probably worth the most in stock form. If the car is originally black then repaint it. If it wasn't black, paint it the original color. If the 260 runs fine leave it in there. Either save the SBC for another project, offer to sell it with the car (for more money), or sell it separately. It won't be worth the time/trouble to do the swap if you're just selling it. You might get 30% of the money back and nothing for your time and trouble. Plus, you'll be stuck with a 260 that nobody will want to pay you anything for.

the car was a factory purple, and i am saving the sbc for my stock car. might try to match the factory purple but who knows.

Purple? Really unusual. Do you have the paint code? I'd like to look it up.

If i was buying it I wouldn't go higher than $1500 no mater what it looks like.... If i was the average buyer.

Now if you are going to be posting it on G Body forums and going to car events with the For Sale sign on it I would ask $2500 but not settle for anything less than $2000.

There are just way to many surprises that comes with an older car that the average person wouldn't want to take and there are too many things that the familiar G Body owner is already anticipating to go wrong on the older car.. catch 22

I would think you would only get high $$ from people who know exactly what went into the car.

just went looked for the tag to get the paint code, but couldnt find it.
