I'm starting a thread on my 79 Elky. It has had a hard life and many would have left it for dead. I don't have a name for it so Im open to suggestions.
I got it a couple of years ago but I haven't done much to it until this summer. It didn't run the po didn't know why turned out the distributor that replaced the original was a tooth off, dropped it back in the right spot it started up. Since then I replaced the cap, rotor, wires and plugs. The fuel system was next replacing the tank and sending unit since they were filled with rust.
It does run and drive but doesn't stop very well that will be next.
Plans are to fix the rust in the body/floor and get a different frame under it. The po had patch panels welded on the quarters but the person that did it did a very poor job, that was the same person that primered the body just spraying right over bondo. Im going to paint it gloss black and tan interior after fixing the mess that's there.
Im thinking about putting the 6L that I have sitting in my storage shed in at the same time I do the frame swap.

Subscribed. Cool project.

Hey Jeff,
Good to see you still with us, and still at it. If I'm not mistaken, you sounded like you were going to give up on G-body cars.
I hope you held on to some good usable parts for this project.

Jack, I'm still getting out of G bodys but this is one of the last two projects. I still have 99% of the parts I had for sale, did send a lot of good parts to the scrapyard this year but don't worry I saved some good parts for this project. I have a spare EC roof that I would like to make into a targa top but not sure how I would be able to seal it tight.

Just a small update,
Some of the rust and junk from the old tank made it up to the carb so I ordered a new carb kit and a couple of new fuel filters.
Started to work on the factory appearing tubs so I will be able to fit a wider tire with the notched frame that will be going under the camino and will also fix some of the rust.

looking forward to watching the build on this... there's an elky just up the road from me for sale, had sat in a driveway just up the street from me for several years, sold to this owner, and he has it up for sale now... may go look at it, but really need to get rid of the grand prix first, now that the transmission issues are taken care of.... may be looking at you and hafrod as inspiration!
