I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a pair of narrowed front control arms for a 79 Grand Prix? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

They make control arms that are narrower than stock to allow the rim to be tucked under the car further.

Wouldn't that decrease steering radius? Just a thought.

so what about where the tie rod connects to the spindle...it doesn't make sense to me that a narrowed lower control arm would allow a deeper backspacing on a wheel

Let me explain my problem a little better. I have a 37 chevy coupe sitting on a 79 grand prix subframe. The front tires rub on the fenders every time I turn. I am trying to figure out a way to move the tires in about an inch so they do not rub. I can't get the rims I want with any more backspacing and I don't want to cut a section out of the subframe. Any suggestions would help.

I understand now...you can cut the lower control arm and remove whatever material you can and weld it back together but after that you'll need to get shorter tie rods and probably a shorter sway bar....for the upper control arms you should measure the length you need to get the camber you want and hit a local circle track shop and get some tubular uppers the length you need....
