79 monte floor shift with a 350 crate motor

Ok I have a little problem with my 79 monte. If I take off and punch it to the floor it takes off then right before it shifts into 2nd ig falls on its face and if u keep ur foot in it it will hesitate for a sec then take off and try to brake ur neck any ideas

Sound like you are running out of fuel. Either your pump can't keep up or your float level is too low
