FOR SALE 79 Olds 260 diesel, 39,000 miles, Trans & 7.5 rear end

I have the following components removed from my 79 Cutlass when it had 39,000 actual miles on it:
260 V8 diesel engine
Auto transmission, not sure if it's a 200 or 250THM
7.5" rear axle, 2.41 gears was reported as stock for the diesel
All were fully functional when removed. They have been in dry warehouse storage on pallets in Alpharetta, GA, N of Atlanta since Summer 2022. I have a trailer and can coordinate delivery within a couple hours of Atlanta or Augusta, GA. I don't know what they're worth, just seems a shame to junk fully functioning components. Let's just say $1,000 for engine, trans & rear end, OBO.

No sir, Oldsmobile made both gas and diesel versions of the 4.3 liter, 260 cubic inch V8 in 1979. The 4.3 liter V6 version came later, 1982 I believe. This is a 1979 V8 unit.

Ahh yeah the 79 only one. I was thrown off by the 260 part. I think the smaller diesel was "officially" called out as a 261 with something like 105 HP i think, but don't remember for sure. Don't take it the wrong way, but you may have a lot of trouble even giving that away with the reputation they had. At one point i was one of the only ones on the forum crazy enough to actually put one in a cutlass 🤣

The transmission is a 3 speed, either 200 or 250THM.

The $1,000 asking price is for all 3 - engine, transmission and 7.5" rear end as a package deal. Just trying to move them along to someone who can use them rather than junking functional stuff.

I gave away my 20,000 mile 3.8L chev v6 with thm250 just to get it off the property. I bought a rear out of a donor car for $100 just to rebuild the control arms to make the 8.5" swap quick.

That engine and trans are not worth anything. The rear is a giveaway too; I have 3 sitting in the rain with similar mileage.

I am willing to give the engine and trans away, you can pick up or arrange for shipping from Alpharetta, GA or I can possibly coordinate delivery on an open trailer within a reasonable distance from Alpharetta, GA or Augusta, GA. You'd need to be able to unload them, they are on pallets.

I guess the diesel engine and transmission will go to the scrapyard. They will probably be around another couple of months before they have to be moved, so if anyone is interested in saving them from the scrapper, let me know.
