I have 79 El Camino just got 79 SS- tach and full sweep gauge set out of 79 El Camino at the local pull and save for 20$ !! 🙂 Question is do I have to swap out hole harness? donor car was AC car mine is not. I found a few links here 1 ishttp://tech.oldsgmail.com/eint_rallye_swap.php but this is a cutlass dash and is different mine has only 1 plug #2 is http://www.maliburacing.com/gauge_cluster.html that talks about color codes and shows some colors differ in the newer monte carlo cluster. any one do this swap or have a better link or some advise? I think about cutting the plug off the wiring of the donor car and comparing it to mine , maybe just wire the donor plug into my harness?

any help - Info is appreciated THANKS Joel

Why not just follow the color sequence that's indicated on the Maliburacing tech thread? All you need to do is re-pin the plug using a small jewelers screw driver. Each terminal is numbered. You might have to add a white wire for your tach.
You'll also need to install the proper sending units for oil pressure & water temp.

sounds easy enough  Guess I am intimidated a little , not experienced in this. Probably what I will do as changing the harness is just to much . Guess I would rob the plug from donor car and use it for a pattern where the wires should be . thanks

You could use the chart for round gauges from maliburacing and these pics if it helps...

then you don't have to cut the other harness..

here's a pic of what the wire ends look like inside the dash harness connector...you can just see the little tab on top that you will have to "release" from the harness connector. Just make sure the tab is not flattened out when you put it back in the connector it should sorta click in and not be able to be pulled out.

You can't get any easier than that. Thanks Kevin..you da man. 🙂

Thanks that link and info is just what I needed, surprised I did not find that part of the forum on the Malibu site earlier.

thanks again Joel
