Hey guys, new to site. I just bought a 80 malibu with a 454. The first thing I would like to do is a full suspension upgrade the car drives like a boat, it's all over the road. Not to mention every bushing I think is squeaking! I want a good street cruiser and be able to take it to the track every so often. So first off do I need to get different springs for the front because of the bigger motor, and what kind of shocks is everyone using? I'm also going to get a new bushing kit does the black or red make any difference?

I have moog 5660 springs in the front. Full umi rear suspension drag bar upper and lower control arms

^^^^ what he said except I did 5662 front springs with bilstein hd shocks. The drag bar my not be necessary depending on how much time you spend on the track vs street. I went with umi sway bars to also but it was just the regular kit for front and rear. Also check your bushings, tie rods, and idler arm to see if there good. That should stop the boat like feeling.

Heres a link to my blog on the suspension & chassis upgrades I've done to my Monte over the years.The end result is a pretty decent handling car that also has good traction;
