80 Malibu brake/steering/suspension upgrade

That sounds like an easy and safe way to compress those springs.
Moog does,or used to,make a real heavy duty coil spring compressor.I had borrowed one several years ago and it worked great,unfortunately I dont have any pictures of it on this laptop.

It's coming along nicely, Jeff.
Good to see you making progress. Nothing like hanging new parts on freshly cleaned and painted areas. I really like how the springs were compressed and banded like that.
