Welcome to the board, nice ride... Funny I had never heard of a somerset until like a week ago and now there's a new guy with one.

Tried giving it a recharge but it still wasn't staying engaged and blowing hot.
You probably sprung a leak. It is probably still low on charge. Probably time to take it a shop to find a leak. You could add a new circuit off the fuse box if you don't have 12 volts to your radio. It could be your radio is toast.

Any updates on this so far? I havent seen you cruising around town yet so I'm hoping somethings in the works?
Hey man, yeah I actually just got it back last Friday after having it worked on for 3 weeks. Can't remember if I mentioned it previously or not but it was having carburetor and fuel pump issues and actually died out on me a few times on the road. I knew the carburetor needed to be cleaned and bought the kit to do with my brother but decided to take it to my mechanic since I wanted it done asap. Turns out, not only was it just filthy as hell but it was also missing the accelerator pump. My guess is the previous owner must've rebuilt it at some point (don't remember if it was mentioned in the original craigslist ad) and either lost or left that piece out. But now it feels stronger than ever and is almost an entirely new car, even more fun to drive. My mechanic also went ahead and installed an inline filter to help keep it cleaner for the future.
I also had the AC compressor replaced which I luckily didn't have to buy since the previous owner had a brand new one for me. So now that's blowing cold again but I'm gona hold off on using it too heavy for now because come to find out there is a bracket missing on the back side of it to hold it in steady. The belt is as tight as can go but still seems loose since there isnt enough support to hold it in place, probably the reason why the other one went out.
And then the other thing that needed replacing was the headlight switch. Found out that's what caused my radio to go out since it kept blowing the fuses and also what caused my dash lights to keep blowing fuses as well. Luckily it was another part that the previous owner had already bought but not put in yet (seems like everything he gave me he knew needed replacing but didn't want to do himself lol) so I didn't have to go out and find one.
And lastly, I had a horn button installed into the dash. The previous owner also rebuilt the steering column and put a grand national steering wheel on without the midsection to connect the horn contact and all that (as you can see in the pics) so installing a button into a dash was an easy solution to save some searching and money. The switch replaced the red alarm button in the dash since the alarm system didn't work anyway. I'll upload some pictures of everything this weekend.
