So this morning I went to start the regal and had no luck. Its been sitting for about a month. The pump is getting gas to carb but just won't go. Put 2 gallons in the tank and splashed some in the carb and it still wouldn't start. All vac. And electrical plugins are secure and in the right spot. Cap and rotor are like 6 months old. Accel wires, a couple years old. Has oil and water.I'm pretty sure it will still start even if the oil pump is working. I was thinking igniton module or coil. if it is one of those is it worth the money to get an accel or mallory part instaed of duralst, will i get better gas mileage??

Make sure it has spark before you throw any parts at it.It's possible to get fuel to the carb and not start. It's possible for the needle and seat to be stuck down not allowing any fuel to get through the carb.Tap on the float bowl with a hammer this usually gets it unstuck.I've had this problem with cars that have sat for awhile.

First make sure you are getting 12V to the pink wire at the dist cap, if you do and no spark at the plug it's likely the module.

sounds like it could be the ignition switch on the steering column

after doing some reading im pretty sure it is the ignition switch. weird one day it was fine and next its not. is it hard to replace?? also about a year ago my highbeams stopped working. when i pull the stick back it clicks but they dont come on. the guy who put my alarm on just wired it so the low beams stay on all the time. i forgot what he told me was bad but im sure it was headlight switch. they both located in the steering column right?? maybe kill two birds with one stone.

it's not hard to replace, just drop the column and if I remember correctly the bolts are 7mm. You have to remove the hi beam switch which in the left of the ignition switch to remove the ignition switch. Just make sure you have the ignition switch properly aligned so the key works properly in it start and accessory position

thanks everybody. gonna give it a shot on monday which is my day off. Thats messed up, i just started working at jiffy lube and theres a dude there who has a pretty clean 83 regal and i was gonna show em up, but i guess not for now. its my birthday tomorow so im just gonna just relax after work and not stress about it anymore. thanks again everybody.
