Is this something that some/most people do, or is it like taboo? I like the split tail light look better than the plane jane with the rocket badges, but I don't want to look loke an idiot hahah Help please.

As stated, your car, your lights. They'll physically fit and so will the 84 grille (another thread) and what's nice is if you want to swap back, it's fairly easy to do.
I like both styles of grilles and lights. However, to purists it may look funny or people may suspect it's been in an accident and someone that was clueless put whatever fit in its place. Just be ready for that. Although there's not that many of the general public that would even notice the difference.
