I have got a problem with my Cutlass, it has been sitting around for a while now since I don't drive it now and I went to start it, as soon as it started, 2 seconds later, it died. Expected. But soon, I had a smell of gasoline in the air. I opened the hood, took of the air/intake above the carb, and found gas all over the manifold. I was wondering where it was coming from, because after that, the car wouldn't start at all. Could my carb be clogged and the gas running through and overflow passage????? Thanks for any info.
And if it help, it is a 3.8 V6 engine.

Hmmm. Maybe the float is stuck open so the fuel pump just floods the heck out of it. Sounds like it needs to be removed and cleaned.

Take a decent size screwdriver, grab it by the blade, and give the carb a few sharp, firm taps around the float area. Often that's enough to free up a sticky float.
