I have an 83 olds cutlass, 3.8 v6; the PCV is in the back/top of the intake manifold. The grommet broke when I removed the old one. I had to cut down the new grommet to get it to fit. Any trick to getting the new PCV into the darn grommet?? I know this is run of the mill fix. But I am about ready to plug it and get another PCV equiped valve cover for the driver side!

Thanks, feel free to make fun of the question too.

Sounds like you don't have the correct grommet  You shouldn't have to cut the grommet to fit, just get an orignal replacement.

I had to trim the replacement grommet for my 84 Cutlass 3.8 also, it was a dorman piece. The PCV valve was a very tight fit when installed.

Aftermarket brand parts usually do not fit nearly as well as AC/Delco parts. Heck awhile back I discovered that Fram PCV valves do not have the correct flow rate and was leaning out my idle mixture. You have to be careful with aftermarket stuff.
