It is a BOP transmission and will not bolt to a Chevy block.

Aren't all 200R4's dual bellhousing pattern? (Chevy & BOP)

No, not all. I got about 15 minutes into pulling one from full-size car with a 307 Olds in the wrecking yard before I realized that the bellhousing was a BOP only. Two rows over was a Caprice that had a dual pattern.

Am i to assume bop stands for Buick,Olds,Pontiac. My car has the lighting rod shifters does that explain anything. What is needed to adapt this transmission to Chevy 350 block or can it be done?

Caprices came with 200R4's? Wow, thought they only came w/700R4's (for OD.) That's good to know. I'm always on the lookout for a good runner w/a 200R4 for cheap. I'll have to crawl under some Caprices now. Any idea on what years came w/the 200R4?

Edit: Yes, BOP is Buick/Olds/Pontiac.

Would this work?

Pulled my 200-R4 from an '89 Caprice with a TBI 305. Not sure what other Caprices came with them but I have been told wagons got them.

All 200-4R's feature the dual bolt pattern bellhousing. Every one of them.
200's have a one-piece case, so they utilized the dual pattern design to save costs instead of having to cast two different cases.
The upgraded versions in 442's, turbo Buicks, and SS's were only slightly different internally, and still featured the dual pattern bellhouse.
I've got the original "OZ" code 200-4R out of my 442 sitting in the corner of my garage, and it agrees with me.

I also had a Chevy 350 bolted to it for a while after I blew up the Olds 307.

So no need for adapters.

Now i am more confused than when i posted some say yes and some say no,so which is it? Please only respond if you are 100% sure! Thanks
