So my first 83 got stolen right before I moved to Texas. It was almost "done". Took me several years to find another and several more years of gathering parts but I'm back at it.

I started working on it about a month ago. I have installed a 5.3 and 4l60e from a 2001 Tahoe. Ordered a bunch of parts and started in on the wiring harness. I work a lot so I don't get to work on it every weekend.

Tahoe had 114000 miles and was super clean. Drove and shifted great. Was hit hard and rolled over. Got it from a customer of mine for fixing his hunting truck. Cost me 200 dollars and 5 hours labor. Not bad

I'll try to keep updates going on this as I progress. My son keeps reminding me to take pictures. This weekend is all new body mounts of the polyurethane variety and hopefully pull the motor one more time to install the muscle car swap oil pan. Truck pan hangs too low. I was able to make my own motor mount plates and keep the low mount ac compressor. Truck intake fits under the hood but just by a hair.

Welcome aboard!
It's always good to see more wagon guys join our group. You scored nicely on the LS drivetrain and all. Thanks for sharing pics and progress report on the wagon.

What part of the country or world are you from? Sorry, I see you're from Texas..and you've been a member since 2013...but 7 messages? It's all good.

I have been lurking for a long time. I have read your wagon thread and love the way yours has turned out. I'm going to copy your bumpers. I love the way they look. The ls drivetrain is a very good platform. My previous wagon had a warmed over carb small block with vortex heads. It moved along just fine but fuel injection is the way to go nowadays in my opinion. Thanks for the welcome. Where are you located ?

Thank you for your kind words. I'm in Gainesville, Fl. home of the Florida Gators(not that I'm a football fan) and the Gator Nationals.
If I can shed any light on your bumper endeavor, let me know.

I think for reliability, performance, and fuel efficiency, you can't beat an LS engine. Being able to acquire the complete wreck is absolutely the way to go. You have all your components, wiring, ECM, driveline, etc..all at your finger tips. I agree with you, fuel injection is the way to go. The best bang for the buck.
What are you going to do about the exhaust system...factory exhaust manifolds? I guess they're starting to make headers for them, but a bit pricey. Conversion parts are becoming more available, which is good. . I have heard that the oil pan needs to be changed out. It's either from an F-body car or Cadillac.
Keep up the good work. Keep us up to date on your progress.

This is the oil pan I ordered. Should be here Friday. Never been to Florida. Heard it's nice there. I will let you know when I get to the bumpers. I am planning on lifting the body this weekend I hope. I am fortunate to have a lift and a nice shop. I happened on a pair of trailblazer ss manifold and they look like they will work

Got these body mounts and four of the washers for repairing rust outs where the body mounts go.
