Hey quick question what would be the likelyhood in a car blowing 2 engines in less than a month??i bought the car w/ a mildly built 350 and it blew pulling onto the freeway less than a month later.....last thurs i bought a block and moved over the parts that were still usable into the new engine and it blew friday...neither engine was abused nor was i even going above the speed limit....pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff so i was just curious as to whether there something i could do to prevent this from happening again....thanks

um where did you get the engines from? maybe the owner knew the motor was on the way out when he sold it to you. I've had my car about a year and half. Previous owner dogged the motor out, but it hasnt given me any problems. He still doesnt believe its the same motor in the car. Maybe the second time the block was cracked or something was not clearanced right when put together. Engine rebuilding is pretty easy but alot of measuring to make sure its right

well the original motor came in the car....the 2nd one i got from the junkyard and had them move everything from the old engine over that was possible....its currently getting a 3rd engine put in right now....same situation diff block again

It would probably be a good idea to have the block checked out by a machine shop. It might save you the trouble of having to do this again for awhile.

junkyard engine, not checked/overhauled and just dropped in? Pretty good odds it's going to blow-up. Guessing you didn't hear it run first. Why was the donor car in a salvage yard?

id start looking at something that was transfered over
is the water pump that you used working properly etc

start with the things that are common to both, and go from there

What parts are being swapped over? If there is debris in the oil from the blown engine and parts aren't cleaned properly, they are reintroduced into the fresh engine and voila! another paper weight.

Sorry the 2nd engine blew a rod....the oil pump went out as for the swap everything was moved over from the top of the engine as well as cams and thats about it.....

the 2nd and 3rd engines werent in vehicles and i heard the last one run so everything is good....
