I needed a new mirror for the pass side of a 84 non ss monte.
I found this olds one but it looks a bit shorter.
are they the same?
also it looks like someone hit something with the mirror breaking it off right at the sheetmetal.
it pushed the sheetmetal in for about 2 inches all the way around the mirror .
its not pushed in deep maybe a 1/4 inch but it is going to have to be pulled out or fixed.
is this a very hard job for a bodyperson?

There are different length pedestals on that style mirror. If it's shorter than your driver's side, I'd look for one that's the same.

Doesn't sound like serious body damage. Why don't you try to do it yourself?

Pictures of the damage would help guys to give you some help on the repairs after you post some pictures of your 79 Cherokee Chief...🙂

heres the dented in door at the mirror.
and also my 76 Cherokee chief which has been my daily driver for close to 35 yrs!

I pulled the inner door panel today and removed the mirror.i tried prying the dent out but it barely budged.
how will they repair it if I took it to some place like macco?will they try to pull it out or will they bondo it?

Looks like a relatively easy dent to work out? With panel removed you should have access to get some thing in there to deadblow? If that's not happening, than a stud gun will do it with a dent puller/slide hammer on the studs for removal.i have a great info pAss mirror from one of my 84 sc's----26.47 shipped.pm me if interested.

If your mirror pedestal wasn't broken when the door was hit, I would try to use it on another sport mirror. They do interchange easy enough.

Also, as far as straightening your door. Keep in mind that there's a mirror support brace inside the door skin which makes it a little harder to work out. I'm sure it could be worked out with a slide hammer and some finessing.
