I think no matter what, it's too big for the hole.

I have the 84+ radio in my 80 buick dash. I will grab a photo on what I did to make it fit today/tomorrow.

it will fit!

I didnt realize your car was a stick. Factory manual non AC regal, that is a rare one!

Can i interupt the post and ask the best dyi fabrication to mount 6x9s in the rear dash of an 84 regal? I read the various posts and i bought a speaker depth adapter http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5...0001&campid=5335822911&icep_item=332330921586
Trying to start a aftermarket factory type setup
Still got a lotta tlc to do and just had to splurge
Currently have them in place with wire and not feeling the whole cut out rear panel to fit them in ... rather put that off until i began on my interior remodel project.
Also in advance cheapest front dash panel . I know when i install the 3.5 i will need one.

It would be best to just to start a new thread instead of hijacking someone else's.

Curious, what drivetrain do you have in your car? You can always add a FM auxiliary plug in to that radio as well, have done that with a couple of radios. Crazy, a bunch of mods needed for the later radio. Unless a good used aftermarket one is found, upgrading the twin post isn't cheap. I tried in my 70S, gave up and cut the dash.

I put a later din 1.5 radio in place of the factory din 1 80 Buick dash.

Bought a 84-87 bezel on eBay and dremeled out a few spots that interfered in the metal skeleton mount. Not every clip that usually is used in the 84+ bezel clips into the 78-83 skeleton but it's not a big deal.
'81, See you're from Mn. I live in Minneapolis. I had so many radios in & out of my '84 Cutlass Brougham I ruined the crummy dash material radio mounts. It wasn't until I found a radio mount bracket in a Suburban (after a few years) that I was able to rebuild the whole mounting compartment & still use the face bezel. Radio held in at the back by the bracket.
