My name is Dan and I am new to the site , I have a 84 buick regal 2dr limited , Im wondering what front coil springs to put in the car . It originally had a v6 motor , someone along the way put a small 260 v8 in which I have taken out 😀 But the front end had a lot of sag to it , The plan is to put a sbc 400 in it which I have , But I would like the car to have a nice stance to it, not a saggy front end . Are the moog 5608 the way to go ? Im looking for advice from people who have ran into this and have a good idea as to what I should be looking to do . I already have the old springs out .
Thanks for the help
Dan

I ran into the same thing with my malibu when I bought, it was riding on its bump stops. I bought from Carquest the heavy duty front coils just in case i ever wanted to put a big block in it and it sits beautifully with a small block chev in it now. They were an absolute pain in the *ss to put in though.

hey dan check my build thread out, i just did the front suspension a couple weeks ago and i love it ! rides 100% better and it still is comfortable ! its my dailey driver all summer long. I went with moog 5660 fronts and the ride height is almost exactly same. i was able to swap them in by myself.

Welcome aboard Dan. Get yourself springs for an 86 Monte SS. You'll be all set. Don't forget the spring compressor and a pickle fork to pop the ball joint. Good luck.

Dan, I bought them from Carquest in Ottawa,Ontario, and the way it worked out is they only had stock of the Carquest branded springs. I picked heavy duty, w A/C for a sedan so equivalent to the Moog 5608's but a little bit cheaper. I had the option of standard replacement but I have plans to put a big block in it so I went for the heavy duty. Here's a picture with the new springs up front and cargo coils in the rear, it has a small block right now. I did the swap 4 years ago and it hasn't dropped or sagged a bit.

If your new sbc 400 has aluminum heads, you can get away with non a/c v-6 front springs and you would be ok, if not then any v-8 springs for the G-Body should work..I'm betting the existing front springs are probably original or have just plain worn out...BTW, welcome to GBF and post some oics when ya can.. 8)
