I have a 85 Monte Carlo ,I recently took the v6 out and plan on dropping a 383 stroker. Here are some of my concerns.

1. Do I have to reinforce my chassi?
2. Would the stock radiator work fine?
3. What transmission should I use to keep my shifter the same 350 turbo, built 200 metric ( no overdrive)
4. What driveshaft would I need? or yolk.

Anything would help and greatly appreciated thank you.

There's at least 2 threads on here that are for v6 to v8 swap. Mainly have to change v6 parts to v8 parts

Well all the posting i have seen are not quite similar , they are usually for a basic 350 but no info about a 383 . I am not quite done with the 383 , i am just trying to look ahead and not have to deal with those problems after its all assembled.

There is literally no difference between a 350 and a 383. 2 sbc's with a 33 cubic inch difference isnt going to be any different. Now, if its a higher compression, aftermarket-headed, big-cam motor, then yes things may change. Give us some more info.

Unless its a track car running stickies and probably a trans brake, there is no need to "reinforce the chassis". I can't really comment on the use of the stock radiator because it all depends on how radical your engine is. I'd say you would be best going with a nice aluminum unit (I think I paid like $175 for mine and it cools amazingly). A th350 is alot easier (cheaper) to build to handle the increased torque you should be seeing going to a v8. And the driveshaft will all depend on what trans you decide on.

well its going to have a comp cam, double roller timeing chain, aluminum heads, roller rocker arms , roller lifters, not sure if that helps .(Just want a street racer / drag ocationally). At the moment i have torque thrust rims with nitto performance tires, dont want slicks. Had a 350 turbo but my driveshaft would not fit, i had to slide rear axle back to get it in than slide it back was a pain but my shifter was way off also P R N D 2 1 (with stock 200 metric) and with 350 turbo it was D P R N 2 1.

I changed my grand prix over from the 4.3 too the radiator should be a sine core it will run in the car but i dont suggest driving it with the stock rad.i only used mine for running it and setting carb at home, the 200 metric i was told not to waste my time with it ,i went with a 350 but if i could do it again i would do a 700r4 i will be switching to it next year probally ,if you go either was get jegs crossmember for it great quality fit perfect,i also bought my full exhaust from them from headers to the 2 1/2 in exhaust kit and it went in real easy for a first timer.if you stay with the 350 turbo your driveshaft should work fine mine is ,but not sure if you go with the 700 r4 ,4.3 is a good swap engine cus the pully system will switch directly over to the 383 you have ,other than that i went with a mecanical fuel pump on the block worked out beter for me .if you have any questions just pm me and ill get back to you.

If its a drag car stick with the 3 speed. If its a hot street driver that goes more than just stop light to stop light upgrade to a 200-4R and get a high stall lock up converter to match your cam. You can get good anti balloning furnace brazed bla bla even 3,000 lock up cheap. One benefit you have is the FI 4.3 had the better in tank electric fuel pump setup. Upgrade the pump and wireing but keep it in tank. www.racetronix.com is a good link check out the Buick GN fuel pump link. Quality quiet reliable pump good to 600HP with quality plug n play wireing. Not the cheapest way but quality reasonable quick n easy.
