So if I dump the 120 SS speedo & go back to the 85 speedo I'll automaticlly drive slower & safer?

No, it will feel faster with the needle at 4 o'clock. Or so the theory goes.

reminds me of the kid at a car show, looked at the GP's speedo and told his dad, "meh its not fast it only goes to 85" ... dad was like 🙄

The less numbers makes the needle move faster which means the car is faster..
