Was driving my 1986 monte the other day with the stock 4.3 v6 TBI.

was driving it and about 10 mins into my trip it, out of no where it died and wouldn't start back up. of course it happened on the way to work so I had to get a ride and let it sit there for the day.

got back to it and tried starting it again and wouldn't start. Started thinking it was the ignition module since it still has the stock one it. Went to advance to get the cheapest one, put it on the car, car started up fine but died again half a road down.

so went back to advance to man up and get the expensive AC DELCO one. did the same thing. So I just ended up pushing it home.

now this is the weird part. It starts up fine at home and I let it idle for about 15 mins and it wouldn't die. I was too afraid to drive it out for the fact it might die again.

So whats the deal? It will die out on the street but can idle in my driveway for 15 mins? Oh and I seemed to notice it would start nice when it's cold out but it would die when it's hot.

any idea?

Have you checked for trouble codes?

Sounds like a dying fuel pump, or plugged up fuel filter. If your fuel filter hasn't been changed in long time, change it and try to drive it. If it still dies, check your fuel pressure. Should be around 14PSI for a TBI setup.
