Got a 86 cutlass wit a v8 307 in it. Ill drive it for like 20-30 min and when i come to a stop it'll start jerking and when i take off it'll start knocking but the knock will go away after i get back up to speed. What can it be?

The car may have a spark knock or pinging, caused by pre-detination. First thing would be check your timing, sparks, plug wires, dist. cap\rotor. If your timing is way advanced it will cause it to ping. Bad ignition parts can cause the jerking and spark knock as well.

I think it may be a carbon build up problem, start the engine and bring it up to operating temperature and then slowly pour distilled water down the carb while reving the engine up a bit. That will clean the carbon off the valves and piston.

The ole water down the carb. trick to steam clean the carbon out works quite well. I would use a spray bottle, so you don't accidentally pour too much in and hydro-lock the engine.

Sounds to me like the torque converter clutch is not disengaging and the torque converter is staying locked up.
Search "Torque converter lock-up solenoid".
