Hey Shotgun, I saw that image before an I'm thinking very much along those lines. But I think it would be better in a black/red combo.

And I firmly believe that some cars should be preserved, but due to living in the salt belt, I need to take precautions. I was thinking about getting an extra set of doors, and fiberglass replacement panels.
I have discovered that almost all gbodies have parts that can be swapped out, so I will replace all of the original parts over time and store them. he frame will be sanded down, and get a coat of POR 15.

The only catch to this is if I end up with one that is already not original. If it doesn't have the matching engine for example. I could see myself doing a GN 2+2. Turbo 3.8, GN drive train, sinister black paint, SS Monte rims blacked out with the ribs just tipped in red, with an all leather interior done in a deep red. HMMMMM......

^^^^
What he said, I would rather buy one, than make it. I glass like a drunk with the shakes, lol.

And who, if anyone makes those louvers for the 1/4 windows, they look friggen sweet.

I've got one, usually they have worn interior yeah but I had the bucket seats re-upholstered by a local shop for an almost exact match to the back seat. Seat belts were brown with 20 years of cigarette smoke....washed them in a bucket of soap and water and their gray again. New headliner and carpet and the interior looks like brand new. The front and rear bumpers tend to go wavy and sag around the headlights(back ones pretty wavy on mine, front one is nice) The trunk seems to have an elusive leak around the back window as the original seal around the window is gone and I haven't been able to find the original style rubber that was in place. The 305 HO is a dog and I ditched it for a 350 crate motor and put a 700R4 behind it(fit with few mods) The stripes are available through e-bay but are rather pricey. I had mine made at a local stripe/graphic shop by bringing in pictures and approximate sizes for about half the price. I agree that they should be kept relatively stock, but the silver just didn't do it for me so I painted it dark maple poly(like a burgundy) and did the stripes just like the originals just with silver and red instead of the red/orange/black that was done originally. Some purists may not like it but I love the look of it and its the only one around like it, and it still gets lots of looks/compliments. I would say find a real one and revive it, too expensive to clone them. Even if you don't do it exactly original, its still better than to have it return to dust.

I believe I'd like to see a pic of that paint job.

the 305 was just plain jane LG4 not the L69, which is why the doggness.

oh yeah, pics, pics, pics, pics, pics........

would if i could

I would love to show you some pics of my baby, but I'm one of those slow people that doesn't know how. 😳 If somebody could point me into the right direction I will post them, possibly in another thread though as not to hi-jack this one[/img]

I just bought a 2+2 from Portsmouth Ohio from a guy who works at Glockner Chev. I Paid 7995.00 for it and had it shipped up to me here in Canada. The car is a #2- condition car with only 59,00 miles on it. No rust, no leaks, interior is immaculent and everything works perfectly. No dents in the body. In order to get registration and plates for the car I had to have what is called an out of province (state) inspection done on the car. Alberta has a junker law and will not let poor unroadworthy cars on the streets. My new purchase passed with flying colors. There is just something about the looks of that car that does something to me. Don't buy one if you are loking for performance.
The seller had all the documenttion and even sent me autographed pictures of the car car signed by Richard Petty.
I started looking for a 2+2 about 18 months ago. Prices were high back then, but, because of the economic conditions in North America, prices have come down. Now is the time to buy.
Because Pontiac is no more and in 2012 the 2+2 will be considered an antique. I expect, unmolested 2+2's to go up in value. 1118 were sold in the U.S. and 107 were sold here in Canada for a total production of 1225 cars. Pontiac Historical confirms that number. I have seen some real basket cases for sale for low bucks. Parts are hard to get. I am looking for a parts car to have just in case. Anyhow, happy hunting. I hope you find the 2+2 you want. I took my time and got the one I wanted.
