did these cars come with the 8.5 rear end?
if so whats a good price on one?

there is a guy here locally selling one for what i feel is a steal.
he said he doesnt know what gear is in it, but the price he shot me might just be worth grabbin it.

i think they only came with the 7.5 an the grand national came with the 8.5

he says the rear end is factory 8.5

im gonna get him so send me a pic of it.

Who cares if it isnt stock, as long as it's the right length and has the mounts in the right spots, I'd buy it. Did he say it came out of a monte? Either way, good luck!

i didnt think STOCK came with the 8.5 in a 86 monte
he says this is the STOCK rear end and that its an 8.5
i just wanna make sure it is an 8.5 befor i drive 3 hours round trip to buy it

no monte ever came from the factory with a 8.5 only a couple of the hurst olds the 442's and the turbo cars after 86 I think but I know for a fact NO monte ever came with a 8.5 from the factory. That does not mean that it didn't have one put in it the easiest way to tell is to look at the bottom of the housing if it has like 2 fangs sticking out it is the factory 7.5 and if it has triangles then it is a 8.5

thx slick79wgn thats exactly what i was looking for.

he isnt the original owner, mabey it was swapped befor him.
he seems very knowledgeable about these cars, i dont think* hes trying to pull one over on me.
hes going to try to get me some pix of the rear end, now i have something to compare it to
