New here so I thought I would just post something about my Gbody and me. I have an 86 Olds 442. Unmolested for the most part. Internals are factory. Considering this car is a Factory "Hot Rod" I wont be asking how to build up this 307. My Plan is to basically restore it and putt around in it. Live all the way up in Maine. Thanks for letting me be a part of this group!

This car has been in my family for 16 years this year and was handed over to me once I separated from Service. I knew a little bit about them and lost that train of thought when I moved away and looked into other cars. But I am back and it is now mine. When I looked into it there wasn't a lot to be found for these 307s. And with people making Donks and Lowriders out of them they are becoming harder to find. My thoughts are opening the secondaries up on the Carb to get more out of it and to get that V8 noise out of it.
Even the factory performance exhaust is restrictive. The cross over pipe and cat are probably the worst part. I would run true 2.25" dual exhaust off the manifolds or go headers into duals. The Sanderson shorties have 1 5/8" primaries, a good thing for the 307. That alone will give it a noticeable kick in the pants. keep all the stock exhaust tucked away if want. The 85 and later swirl port motors were not a good performance platform. Tiny ports and 8 to 1 compression.
I have been reading a lot of that. The 7A heads have puny ports. Also that there aren't a lot of options for headers that Hedman was the only option for the 307. If this isn't true Then I would much rather go True Dual.
The Sanderson headers will fit and might be a better choice being 1.625" vs 1.75" primary tube. You can run both pipes under the passenger side, get custom 2.25" pipes. Olds got 30 extra HP by adding a better cat, y pipe and shorty headers with the ram air cleaner. Too bad that version was only used in a prototype and the 5 SPD manual never carried over either.
I just received the MagnaFlow cat. Are there any complaints with this one. The only one I saw on summit was the one about not fitting a 85 GN.
Thanks for the help too!
Thank you and no I don't. The first one driving was taken by my sister the year it went into Hibernation. And the other one was when I moved it to a temporary garage until we bought a house. As soon as I get the new Cat in and off the stands I will take some photos of it to post.
