awesome job elco warren . just brush them haters off.. it's your car so you do it the way YOU want it. its easy for them to critize when they dont know the amount of time, money, blood, sweat and hard work that goes into it to actually GET IT DONE and get it done RIGHT.. your way. when your done you can say I BUILT this car, and not bought it. anyways keep up the awesome work.

Thanks doggy!!! Preciate that!! Peeps are quick to jump on a persons mods or look they are going for. I see alot of dudes can dish it but cant take it

How did u do the wheel wells Warren? Those look awesome! :respect:

Thanks fam!! They are just hydro dipped. Search it on youtube. now I did work the hell outta the wells before hand tho. Look back in my earlier post for pics. I filled all the factory bottle holes and smoothed the well...s. I had a few runs and from what mel says, the shop didnt sand em all the way down. All good. I now know what to do as far as prep work goes when I do my SS set

Those are the cleanest Wells I've seen out. You killin the game with those.

Aww damn!! Thanks O!! Trying to up my lil game some. I practiced with the cans and they came out clean for a home grown job. Now I let the shop do a lil something, but imma still cut and buff em to my liking. Thanks for checkin back. I swear the El will be out soon. I hope. LOL

Man that shaft looks amazing. You might as well go ahead and take that "daily driver title away...lol your a bold man if you do.
Man ive been following your builds for a while and man it just keeps getting better. Alot of people will chrome out an engine to draw attention away from the small things they didnt get to under the hood, your chrome is far from your main attraction. I could spend hours looking at the small things you have done to your car.

You havent cut any corners so far that i can notice. I mean your mock up parts are better than most peoples final assembly im sure.

Its pretty hard for anyone to find something to hate about this car (even if it has too much chrome  JK)

I dont think it could get any better unless you took it off the frame (please dont, i wanna see this thing done)

Man i love it. and the only thing i hate about it, is that its not mine
🙁

Bro thats love right there! i really appreciate your kind words! Im trying doggy! Learning as I go along also. Peeps are always gettin on my head about how long it takes or whatever, but Im trying to do the best i can with the lil funds and resources available. this stuff can get expensive! but thats why Im taking my time, saving, planning my next mods and learning a ton about these old cars. Again..Thanks for the kind words bruh 8)

GAME OVER those are the sickest wells around

Thanks.. Still a loooong ways to go on em tho. This is a good starting point. Cant wait to get em back home and work my lil backyard boogie on em.

Well I decided to learn a lil about the factory AC box setup. Pulled the top off with no probs. A homie bought me a new heater core, but when i pulled the old one i decided to either have a shop pressure test and clean the factory one, or get a really good aftermarket one. The factory core is BEEFY! The new one is a Spectra Premium something and doesnt look like it will make it past 3 years. This new equipment is nothing like the factory parts that rolled off the assy line! Im also replacing the evaporator which will round out all my ac/heater components. I gotta have cold ac blowing! LOL. Now I did pull the old box out my SS, but thats because a much more advanced system will be going in the old setups place. The El is being setup, planned out to show dudes what can be done with the factory system. the AC system had been swapped to the new stuff by the previous owner. New condensor, evaporator, heater core, accumulator and compressor should have this el blowing ice cubes out the vents...

Top is off and I started the clean up. Vacuumed all the crap, dirt , leaves and stuff out. Simple green'd the insides..

Comparison of the factory and new heater core. Getting the factory core looked at and use it. Ill save the new one for my "Alibu" Project...

7181236984_e404d869ba_c.jpg

Got the top off with minimal probs. Cleaned up with some degreaser...

7181228642_e24e7a54d1_c.jpg

Sanded and primered. Didnt wait long enough for the cleaner to "flash" and the primer reacted in a few spot. Let dry, sanded smooth and re-primered..Then sanded with 320 grit, cleaned and "filler " primer. High build to hide any scratches left behind from sanding..

7181262978_a14dcdbfb2_c.jpg

Same treatment on the box top cover...I wonder if the aftermarket cowl cover can be used in place of this. Would look cleaner to me..Hmmm. May have to rob Skips afor a "Mock up"

7181265226_81be49b142_c.jpg

Cleaned and scuffed..

7181267324_b965cc95bf_c.jpg

Primered

Few shots of the booster, wiper arms and firewall. Had to "hit it again (firewall area) with the wiper motor and booster out of the way. New wiper motor will be dropped in as well.

Corrected cap came out cool. I scratched the hell out of it on the install after i soldered on the tach/power wire clip. Touch up paint did the trick..

Cant wait to see it all installed. i have this vision in my head and on paper. Should look decent...Thanks for checking back fellas. Its all just arts and crafts time right now till my Spohn front suspension, Speedway upper control arms, lca's and other lil stuff gets the AZ treatment and installed...Cant wait!!! the holley 670 is what gm reccomends on all they new crate motors so your ride should run well with it...its looks amazing im gonna send my el to pick apart cause you have the game set at game over.....

Yessir! me and a bro of mine were going back and forth on this. Mine originally came with a 600 cfm 4150 single inlet carb. I bought this motor 7 years ago (damn!) and maybe thats what GM wanted to go with then. GMPP has since upgraded the carb to a 670. That looks to be the only change to the crate setup. All my homies that run this crate have upgraded to the 670 setup with no probs. I have a 670 Street Avenger on it now and bent a few corners with it while still in the SS. Nice upgrade!. The single inlet on the o.g. Holley bugged me. Nice carb, but I love the look of dual feed. I wanted the Ultra in the "Double Pumper" version, but will save that for the LS carb setup in the SS  Preciate the input. The whole "CFM" rating thing is still a lil mystery to me. Ive seen 750's ran on this lil motor, but that was with a lil top end work. You guys know me, i just want "The Look" Performance is nice, but its gotta look how i want it to!

In the shop now working on the AC box and cowl area.. Man I wanna pull this front suspension and throw the spohn goodies on. Gotta wait till they get that Az treatment tho. Soon. Elco Mel!!! Big boxes "O Goodies" coming your way this Sunday

Oh trust me doggy!! You do have the patience! Thats why we (80z) put the pics up. to inspire young bros like yourself to get it crackin. Man that feeling of knowing you tried your best to get it done right is a great feeling. i wanna call it a day and swang this ho right now! Haha! But I'll keep chuggin along til i get her somewhat decent...Keep me posted on the epoxy work you doing...

In the shop going hard ON THE AC SYSTEM. Just did some "SPRING CLEANING" on the insides of the box, vacuumed all the dirt and leaves, brillo pad and de-grease and exercised the doors. Sanded and primered the ac box top and Cleaning the cowl right now. Prepping for paint....

Man bro you got it looking real sweet under there... I wanted to run a vintage air under the dash unit but I think after your finish putting your touches on the stock box I'll be in the junkyard pulling one to send your way lol

Thanks fellas 8) Did a lil more "arts and crafts" today on the ac box and bay...Still wet sanding the ac box top. No rush as Im waiting for new parts. Everything as far as the ac goes gets replaced. I was going crazy looking at ac goodies today. New blower motor and metal finned fan, tubes, electrical hookup the works. I wanna show dudes that the box can be cleaned up and made to work well.

AC box sprayed...
