87 Monte Carlo SS Rear

Hey guys.. I have a 85 Regal that doesnt has posi. My rear end is holding me back from running good times at the track. I wanted to beef up my rear end & I found a rear end from a 87 Monte Carlo SS on Craigslist. Will this directly bolt up to my Regal? Only reason I ask, my Uncle told me that some parts dont directly fit every G~Body. I pray he's wrong..

The rear end out of a MCSS will bolt right into the Regal and will stand up to some power at the track. But if you are going to put alot of power to it and race it hard you should keep your eyes open for an 8.5 out of a GN or 442.

the rear end will work I have had my rear end from a mcss in 2 cutlass and a 1985 regal with a 455 just don't use slicks

Look over on turbobuick.com. there are a few 8.5's for sale, I believe. Be prepared to pay though. They are going for 800 an up

the 7.5 will hold up for a while. just dont be surprised when you start making some crazy power and you blow it up.

8.5s can handle a lot of power. I had one for a while. once your running low 10s or faster i would say its time to go to something else like a 9" or 12 bolt.
