9” rear what to look for

The guy I picked the two transmissions up off of today had this rear Out of a leafspring car told me it was a 9 inch looks like a 9 inch from the front but the oval Punkin and skinny axle tube are throwing me off it’s 52 inches backing plate To backing plate and 58 inches axle to axle for 200 bucks the center section alone is probably worth it it’s open with 370 gears What are your thoughts guys grab it or leave it for the junkman

On a 9", one of the bottom bolts has to be taken off with a wrench as the carrier is in the way. That looks to me like an 8" but I am far from an expert.

housing is junk

it is a 9" it is probably a 28 spline

Also if it was from the front how would the wheels turn

Same as my ‘57 Ford F100. That one is probably out of a car or Ranchero. Junk WAR carrier. 28 splines. Good 3.70 gears are cheaper than that on ebay.
