Hey All,
I have a complete '91 Trans Am GTA WS6 that I'm wrecking. 350 and Auto are going in my Century Coupe. What other parts are worth taking from the Trans Am before I scrap it? Sway Bars? Brakes?
Many Thanks In Advance,
Jeff

Happy New Year!
Definitely: Computer and wire harness to make the TPI system go - also will need the fuel pump/level sender - may need to extend the pickup. Front sway bar, steering gear (need to exchange the Pitman arm - with luck the steering gear in your Century has the four-bolt top), mirrors, headlights, rims and lug nuts (will need one pair of spacers), front rotors and calipers, lower rear control arms, complete rear disc brake setup plus cables, proportioning valve for four-disc swap, limited-slip differential plus ring/pinion (if not an Aussie 9-bolt).
Consider: Wiper motor and wire harness (mods required), console (brake handle will now be on the wrong side), seats and seat belts (may be swappable), tilt column, donut spare tire, entire rear axle - you could get wild and try to fab a GNX-like three-link with Panhard bar - keep the torque arm and trans mount plus panhard bar with chassis bracket], exhaust system could be modified if not too rotten, A/C system may be swappable - pull the whole thing out as a single piece if there is freon still in it.

Jeff, I have to tell a story...
I spent Christmas 1994 in Fremantle and Perth when my ship was docked for five days at HMAS Stirling. Two tugs gently brought our nuclear sub to the pier while the Aussie diesel boat went full speed at the pier and floored it in reverse, gliding into place exactly centered between the bollards. The RAN tied up three ships side by side so we could have a pier to ourselves - and they towed a cruise liner 60Hz diesel generator all the way from Adelaide so we could shut down rather than have to run the reactor, moored in the harbor. While having a beer in at a pub in Freo, the bartender asked us, 'You Yanks get left behind? There was 14000 of you guys here last week." (We got lucky and just missed a whole carrier group taking a liberty call.) On my duty day, there was a civilian on the pier - a local Uni professor doing a corrosion research project on one of the RAN cruisers. He asked if we were able to give a tour - we had a special exception to let Aussies see the front half of the sub - never had foreign nationals aboard before. He had a blast and asked if he could bring his kids back the next morning. They were on the pier at 8 am sharp. I just got off duty so I took them around on a personal tour with a snack in the galley after the duty crew finished breakfast. They invited me to spend Christmas day with the family. They picked me up the next morning - and we drove more than an hour and a half to their house - those kids must have gotten out of bed at 5:30 am to be there by 8 for their tour! Had a great meal, there were a couple small presents under the tree for me, and spent the afternoon with the 'Rellies' - Great-Grandma and about 40 other cousins, aunts and uncles. The highlight was when a fellow arrived from Coober Pedy - he'd been gone for five years, and showed up just in time for Christmas. All that plus a balmy Christmas in the southern hemisphere!

Now you know why I'm jazzed to help you fix your Century!

Hey Man,
That's a pretty cool story. My business sells a lot of gear to HMAS Stirling. Billeting American Sailors used to be quite a common thing in Perth. I remember we had a few guys to our place for dinner and to hang out with. I never made it onto any of the tours though.
Thanks for the help with the parts. I'll make sure I gank all that stuff before I get rid of it.
I see you have some Australian metal in your shed too...
Jeff
