Thought I would post some pics of my new 83 Malibu 9C1. Car was originally purchased new by the Ft Collins, CO PD. At some point they removed the spotlights and painted the car gray to use as a surveillance vehicle. Car is very original and rust free. It is pretty well loaded for a 30 year old fleet car. Came with PW, PDL, Tilt, A/C and factory bucket seats. Even included the original buld sheet. The car had been driven less than 1k miles in the last 10 years. Since I acquired it, I checked the fluid levels and started driving it. I have put almost 1k on it and it runs great. Suspension is very tight and car handles great. My plans are a L05/4L60E combo from my wrecked 90 Caprice 9C1. I am also planning on installing a set of Recaro's from a 9C3 Lumina. Should make for a unique and interesting driver. Here's my link to a photo album of car...

Speedo is 115. No, not really a contact persay, just seem to have good luck finding them. I have been buying and selling old cop cars since my first Plymouth that I bought at 16. I do have some pictures of the Nova, here is a link to that album. Car is very original, just needs to be put back together. The Nova also has a 120 speedo.

Here's a few pics of one that a guy was selling a few years ago. It's a '79 with the original 350 engine. I wish I had bought it.. :?

I am looking for a set of wheels from a 83-84 Monte Carlo SS. This is the 15X7 steel wheel that was also used on 86-92 2WD S-10 Blazers and some early to mid 80's Camaros. Never thought it would be such a hard wheel to find. Any leads, let me know. Jack (Longroof), the guy I bought mine from has a couple of others (9C1), if interested.

Jerry,
As tempting as it sounds, I'm elbow deep in my wagon project. Thank you, though.
I had seen sets of those type steelies at the junkyard a while back. One on an S10, and another on a Blazer...if I recall. They were both 15". I know they also came with 14" rims.
I almost considered them, but went with standard B-body 15 x 7 steelies for my dog dish caps.
If I run across a set, I will give you a shout.

I have a set of those wheels with all the black inserts 15x7

I don't understand why you would put a set of the Lumina recaros in that Malibu.

Not only were they uncomfortable they were junk.

83 9c1 had the option for the 700r4. if that one doesn't already have it, that is as far as I would go with it.

Anything else I would do to it would appear stock

But hey thats just me!

The 700R4 was never available in the Malibu. The 700R4 was used in 83 but only in the Impala. I have a 90 9C1 Caprice that got hit in the front, and the motor runs ver strong. I purchased the car back from the insurance company for $250, so I figure its a very inexpensive upgrade. The stock 305 runs great, but couldn't get out of its own way. I figure 50hp or so and an overdrive transmission in a car that is 500lb lighter than the one it came from should work pretty well. I actually like the Recaros, I ran them in my Caprice for a while. I will say, they are a little stiff. I am going for a stock appearance which is why I am looking for a set of the those wheels. Also, much better tire choices in 15 inch versus 14. Do you want to sell em?

Jerry,
I like the Recaro seats. Were they only available in the 9C1 Caprices?
as far as I know, there was never a 700-R4 installed in any Malibu models...and I think the 200-4R came out slightly later.
I'm guessing that the TH350C was probably in the police models. and the 200-4R was in the standard Caprices up until 1989-90.
I suppose the 9C1 Caprices could have come with the 700-R4. I'm not sure about that.
