I am a new dude here on Gbodyforum.com. A big fan of Buick Olds & Ponchos and I recently scored a 425 block from the Gateway Raceway Swap meet back in April for only $50 bucks! The block is pretty clean I will upload pics of my 425 in the coming weeks. I am in St. Louis, MO and I was wondering if there were any good machine shops in the local area. I called a couple of local places & they deal with Chevys & Fords. I want to start off with a good street strip build for her (my cutlass that is lol!). I look up 442.com & didn't have any 425 buildups! Currently I have a Jasper rebult 307 with a Turbo 350 behind it with a open rear end (yuck!) with dual turbo mufflers and a magnaflow hi-flow cat. Any advice would be greatful!

check realoldspower.com for any olds build info ya need. im sure there are plenty of machine shops in the STL area that can help.

Hey good lookin out maliburacinfreak! I check out realoldspower.com & I found what I was looking for. I have a D in the front of my 425 & that makes it a 39 degree angle block that needs the .921 lifters. I'll pay the exta $$ for the lifters no prob. Bout to order a PAW catalog to get this engine kit so I can move forward with my project. Hmm I wonder if they make stroker kits.......

Sure, they make stroker kits for a 455, those can be adapted to a 425, its the same block. The 425/455 is a very versitile engine. I'm putting a 70 block 455 in my 84. Looking to get about 425 hp, 500 ft/lbs torque. Its easy to get power from them while keeping 'em streetable.

Also www.oldspower.com They have a section build up specific and have more die hard racers/motor heads. But they are a little hard core. Their are about 6 or 8 well respected Olds specific vendor / builders. You should probably take advantage of one of them. In fact their is a guy with a hard running 425 mid 80s Cutlass that posts their.

Man y'all some lifesavers!! Thanks for the info! I am going to go ahead with this project I never seen a 425 in a 87 Olds Cutlass so its a first time for everything thanks alot I will be back posting on here in the near future you fellas be cool!!

if you look up on powerblock mag on powerblock.com they also did a build up on olds block hope this helps!

I wouldn't use these guys as a reference - they did a horrible job when they built up that 455 recently. Hell, they even got the paint color wrong. Though they got help from Mondello on the prep of the short block once they got back to their shop they were all thumbs, elbows and dumb a-holes.

If you were building a Gen I SBC ok possibly, a SBF maybe but anything else, forget it. They are a very bad reference to use.
