After owing the 79 El Camino I really got to liking the 78/79 style header panel. Just something about the paint break between the grille and headlights that I liked. I sold the Camino a few years ago to a young lady that was trying to work on one that was way too rusty. She had bought some parts from me and then contacted me about finding a frame for hers. I gave it some serious thought and decided I would sell her mine. It wasn't getting the love it should have so instead of sitting I thought it might as well be in the hands of someone that would drive it and give it the TLC it needed.

Here's a pic..

Anyway..I was recently lucky enough to find a loaded 79 header...and in great shape. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet but at least I've got it.

Hang it up on a wall in the garage and wire up the lights.

That's not a bad idea....I've actually got 2 80/81 headers and an 82 and newer one so I could maybe do them all and show the 4 different offerings. I'll have to give that some serious thought.

Thanks

I have one of those as well, personally I prefer the 80/81 style, but it seems lots of people are looking for the early style

Brian..I see lots of 80/81 here but very few 78/79 besides liking the style it did help complete the collection.

Take care of it and you'll be somebody's hero. Maybe we can find a car for you to put behind it.

Kevin I have seen two nice El Camino's for sale here in Saskatchewan. Both around the $4000 to $5000 price on FB Market Place. One light blue, the other dark. To bad we have 6 months of Winter or I would replace my Dakota with one and Olds power it. On the shop wall is fitting for such a nice header panel. Looks like the light blue one must have sold but here is the link to the other.

Thanks Christian...I had seen the light blue one...seems to me it was down in the Ceylon area...looked not too bad. Dark blue one I hadn't seen but doesn't look bad either. You are right about the long winters here and can make it tough on owning something like that. I don't think I'd do another Camino if I get back in again though.
