I think that is a self-adjusting orifice tube.I can't really comment on that as I live in NYC and it doesn't get as hot as by you. You probably should research that or start a new topic. There are quite a few guys here from Arizona too.

Researched and according to what "Google" says not a big difference. HOWEVER while searching I found an A/C shop in PHX that has them for $10 bucks. For the extra 7 dollars what the hell its worth a try!

" I found an A/C shop in PHX " -they should know best. Also another thing to try is when you think all is well, add some of the replacement freon and do like before waiting to see if it leaks. Just because the system holds vacuum when you suck it down, doesn't mean it will hold positive pressure once it's filled. My Mom's '89 Cutlass Cierra did that. I added a seal swelling type sealer and a couple cans of Freeze 12 and it has been perfect for 15 years.

Good advice! I just received the drier and I should be getting the condenser tomorrow. I had new hoses made for me, and got a whole new set of o-rings. I should be good to go. Right on time, I can feel the heat picking up here in PHX. I will keep you guys posted to see how it goes. First time doing any type of A/C work.
