I knew it would happen eventually, still frustrating though. My 307 developed a rod knock. Pushed it a little hard on the highway 😳 .
Well it gives me excuse to build the 455, I just have to go get it first!

Don't worry. When I got my Cutlass the 307 had a rod knock and no oil pressure when warmed up. I beat the crap out of that thing and it never complained. I believe I drove the car for about 3000 miles like that, and who knows how long it was like that before me. It should keep goin for a while longer while you get the engine built.

My 307 lasted about 3 days after she started knocking...

I still have one of the shattered pistons and a small box full of all the pieces of cylinder wall that ended up in the oil pan!

 You fella's must be harder on your 307's than I am.

Mine has 95K on it, has great oil psi, runs excellent, and is original. On the other hand, my car is a two owner car that was taken care of better than most children

I'm guilty of holding it WOT. Seems to stay together, but the 307s are definately not a high RPM engine. If you got a 455, this could be your excuse to build it!

I ran mine at 5200 RPM for about a mile doing about 115 mph on the highway. 3.73:1 posi and a 3 speed doesn't agree with high speeds  .

my 307 out of my 87 cutlass had 114,00 and still runs like a champ, its forsale with trans 🙂 350.00 come take it home with you.
