As you can see in the pic a set of lines from the thermostat housing to the rear of the intake. How is this efficient for added cooling? How could you make this setup on other intakes?

The thought is that it helps get rid of a dead spot at the rear of the heads in the cooling system, allowing any coolant at the rear to circulate to the front more easily.
I believe most guys who have done this on an Olds engine have only noticed a few degrees difference than not having the lines at all.

He could have but maybe he's planning on installing sensors later on down the road?

It's not really "added cooling" at all. Like others have said, may make a 5 degree difference.

So why do it? Balance.

You can only tune(timing) to the hottest cylinder. By doing this the actual temps of all 8 cylinders are closer to the same temp.

Makes for a easier/better tune and balanced performance from your engine.

I added 2 holes between the middle cylinders deck surface(where the exhaust valves are close) and also ran line similar to above on my Pontiac motor. Just drill and tap your own holes, no need for that adapter.

I checked with a infrared heat gun and the temps are within 15 to 20 degrees vs as much as 75 before.

Worth while mod.

This is pretty smart, but i dont see the coolant traveling threw the lines at all

" i dont see the coolant traveling threw the lines at all" Why?

I know it works, nice having an electric pump to test.

During my manifold/carb swap looking at adding restrictors at the water x-over up front to equalize the flow even more.

Another nice thing of the Pontiac inferior design is not having to break into the cooling system and pull the dist. doing manifold swaps.

Maybe the Edelbrock Airgap ( Pontiac design copy  ) would make it easier???
