My car is currently in primer and getting rained on right now. It's not an epoxy primer, and I know that non epoxy primers aren't supposed to get wet. Will I be all right this one time? I got a tarp over the majority of the car right now, but that is really all I can do. I don't have a garage to put it into and it's not like I can make it stop raining.

what kind of primer is it? I had my front clip in a urethane primer for the whole winter, getting snowed on and rained on, I had to WET sand it anyway then it was painted... still holding up great and has been for a few years. it the raw body filler you want to worry about, it acts as a sponge, and that is why people prime it, to seal it.

It's cheap alkyd enamel primer, but it says "primer sealer" on the can , so I'm not sure.

after its dry it should be water restraint even though soap and water clean up when its wet. Not sure what brand you used but still should be ok. You might want to check for softening or discoloring on the primer.

Ok, thanks I feel a little better now. I just wasn't too sure. Im new to bodywork, and I know alkyds have a bad rap.

alkyds are basically a water-born paint, the automotive industry, some manufactures, have been using water-borns for primers and base coats for a little while now, and some repair shop do the same to keep with a better oem repair and reduce the harmful stuff the OSHA doesn't like. Most shops will probably migrate that direction to make everyone happy, but I am use to urethane and like how they spray so that is what I prefer.

I use it, quite honestly, because it fits my budget, and I will admit, i use urethanes at work and I'd prefer them over this stuff.
