Air cleaner height?

I have an 84 cutlass with 350 Chevy and high rise intake and 4150 Holley carburetor...how tall of a air cleaner can I fit under the hood. I would like to get a 4" filter and currently have 3.063". Can anybody tell me if a 4" will fit or will I have clearance issues?

My 3" air cleaner is touching the hood insulation. Probably need a cowl hood to go any taller.

you can get away with a drop base cleaner i have done it with my car already

Mine is a drop base too. I had to use a spacer to get over the distributor throttle linkage.

the one i made is alittle over 4 inches and clears it all .ill try to post some pictures later im on my laptop now

The best thing to do is measure from your carburetor flange to the bottom side of the hood. You can use clay, play-doe or anything like that :idea:
