HELP Alt/AC Brackets Different?

I have this 1979 3.8 eng i picked up a few wks ago from a good friend in Wisconsin, I also have a spare 3.8 it's 1981 that had the CCC system i deleted. The 1979 engine is missing some A/C Bracketry (I think)... But after talking with a 3.8 guru friend it seems the Newer style Aluminum Alt / AC Bracket from the 1981+ engs won't work with pre-80 bcuz it hits Vacuum Diaphram.

Anyone have input on this when they changed from the Metal style bracket on the 1st pic to the Newer style Aluminum 2nd pic. From an eBay ad online i was hinted The metal brackets could have only been 1977 - 1979? Any help thanks.

The distributor vacuum advance? It can be re locked to miss that bracket.

Ooo i forgot about that. Haha.

I may try to fit that 1981 bracketry onto mine, But i much prefer the Metal since it's So much more a Low mount.
